Climate change
Mongolia is experiencing some of the greatest rates of climate change. According to recent reports, the average annual air temperature has increased by 2.14°C, while the mean annual precipitation did not change significantly for the last 70 years in Mongolia, except for slight decreases in some open areas including the steppe zone (Dagvadorj et al. 2014). Also, in the second half of this 70-year period or in the last 34 years, the summer average temperature increased by 2.5 °C for the country ranging from 1.05 to 3.18 °C in different areas. This shows an accelerating warming trend in summer season for a shorter period, and it is remarkably higher rate compared to the increase in the global mean annual temperature (Vandandorj et al. 2017).
